For more than 15 years, I served on bar and court committees entrusted with safeguarding the integrity of the legal profession. My work has included chairing Virginia State Bar adjudicatory body that determines whether lawyer misconduct has occurred as well as serving on the Virginia State Bar rule-making body that helps to shape the standards governing lawyer conduct. This rare combination of roles gives me a unique perspective on how disciplinary authorities view and resolve cases.
These matters are often among the most delicate and consequential a lawyer can face, involving not only legal issues but also professional reputation and livelihood. Having presided over complex misconduct hearings, I understand both the scrutiny applied by disciplinary boards and the importance of a careful, strategic response.
I also bring the perspective of participating in the rule-making process, having helped develop the very standards that guide the profession. This allows me to provide practical, discreet, and strategic advice on compliance, ethics, and defense against complaints.
